Election time sadness.

Here we are after eight years under President Obama getting ready to make a decision between bad and worse. I'm of course referring to our current predicament between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. Let's break them down one at a time.

Hillary Clinton:
Pros:
  •  Has the backing of several former Presidents something Trump lacks.
  • Experience
  • Incorporated good ideas of past opponents into her platform something Trump refuses to do.
  • Rumors around Trump's campaign suggest Clinton's VP will be less powerful (which is a Pro considering VPs don't have to win primaries).
Cons:
  • Clinton's emails proved to the FBI that Clinton's negligence with her private server would constitute treason comparable to Edward Snowden, but the FBI mysteriously didn't suggest criminal charges.
  • Clinton resided as the Secretary of State during the Benghazi crisis and seemed powerless or incompetent.
  • Clinton's views on many different issues has flip-flopped over the years and it seems to most voters that Clinton might just say anything if it gets her elected.
  • Clinton may have been conspiring with the DNC during the democratic primary, although it seems the DNC was acting on its own to prop up Clinton over democratic primary hopeful rival Bernie Sanders.
  • Democrat.

Donald Trump
Pros:
  • Anti-establishment.
  • Is an excellent salesman, getting cities in the past to give him very long extensions on loans and extensions on paying taxes on real estate, with the constant gridlock between Congress and the White House in the past eight years this could be an incredibly useful skill for a President to possess.
  • Trump has an incredibly strong stance on immigration and immigration reform.
  • Trump's business sense and understanding of business systems/banking may be helpful in foreign relations.
Cons:
  • Trump has also changed his position on certain politic issues in the past ten years and some of his views are still unclear.
  • Trump's strong immigration stance has occasionally gone too far, so much so that he insinuated an American born judge with Mexican heritage would be impartial due to his heritage and Trump has also suggested placing a ban on all Muslims coming into the United States.
  • Trump claims to be self-funded while accepting huge donations from wealthy donors.
  • Trump's VP may be leading the country (more on that here http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/donald-trump-mike-pence_us_578fa289e4b0f180da63defd ).
  • Trump has on more than one occasion shown a penchant for sexism and racism.
  • Republican.
So, our choices seem to be between two habitual liars one of which is a liar and the other of which is a racist misogynist, but what if I told you there was a third option?

Gary Johnson
Pros:
  • Not Trump or Hillary
  • Maintains a solid stance on political issues.
  • Wants to change several laws to reduce the number of Americans in prison, like legalizing marijuana.
  • A solid more logical middle ground between the extremes of the two parties.
Cons:
  • Anti-Vaccine which is scientifically baseless.
  • Doesn't have the major support or backing of the two major parties of our country.
  • Has an unfortunate last name which leads to some.... awkward[?] campaign slogans.

No matter who you decide to vote for though, do some research before you vote and go into your polling place informed about the candidate you are voting for on election day.

My (late) thoughts on the election and campaign overall.

$1.6052 billion dollars spent on the 2012 presidential campaign just for an Incumbent to return, this is a great waste of money and absolutely screams to the USA that there needs to be some sort of campaign reform, super pacs and celebrities are now given more access to the candidates we the people elect than ever before just because of the enormous sums of money these groups can generate for a presidential candidate. This wasn't the peoples election, it was the 10%s election, and while I am pleased with the result of the campaign, money shouldn't determine the winner, and although I don't believe it did, some data from The New York Times gives some credence to the idea that the more money you have, the more likely you will win. Barack Obama raised $934 million and spent $852.9 million, in contrast Romney raised $881.8 million and *only* spent $752.3 million. Most peoples first question would be... where did the rest of that money go? The answer to that is simple, in Romne...

Technology, humanities greatest achievement.... and possible downfall

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1BQPV-iCkU&feature=related This video shows our possible future as we are becoming more dependent on technology. It starts now with Nomophobia which is a fear of being without your mobile phone.  http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2141169/The-biggest-phobia-world-Nomophobia--fear-mobile--affects-66-cent-us.html  <-- This link suggests that 66% of everyone who has access to a mobile phone suffers from this phobia , making it the one of , if not the biggest phobia in the world ( which is why whenever I can , I turn my phone off and leave it in a separate room). The specific fears of this phobia are included in the link but I will list a few here : 1. Losing reception. 2. Running out of battery. 3. Losing sight of the phone itself ( most people just believe this part is related to the increasing costs of mobile devices, which is a valid argument in my opinion). The fact that it exists though is just sad for our current generati...
